Trees
A spreading deciduous tree to about 20m tall, with dark grey, ridged bark, and large, rounded dark green leaves, paler green beneath, turning yellow in autumn. In early to midsummer bears fragrant pale yellow flowers with distinctive pale green papery bracts to 15cm long which age to almost white and flutter in the wind; very large brownish fruits follow the flowers in autumn
