A rhizomatous perennial, to around 60cm high, large, deeply lobed green leaves up to 40cm long, growing on red-spotted stems from the base of the plant. Clusters of pink-tinged white flowers are borne on tall stems above the leaves in late summer and autumn

How to Grow

Cultivation

Thrives in fertile, moist soil, in dappled or afternoon shade. Mulch well for winter protection in mild areas; elsewhere best grown in a greenhouse or conservatory, or in containers that can be moved indoors over winter. See begonias: outdoors for further information
