A spreading, decidous tree to about 10m or more in height, with an oval crown and large, mid-green leaves. Produces large, pure white, upright flowers to 30cm across, with 9 tepals and contrasting pink stamens, the flowers occasionally flushed pink at the base, appearing before the leaves in early to mid-spring

How to Grow

Cultivation

Grow in moist but well-drained neutral to acid soil in full sun or partial shade with shelter from cold winds. Flowers may be damaged by late frosts. See magnolia cultivation for further advice

Propagate by softwood cuttings from late spring to early summer or semi-ripe cuttings from late summer to autumn
