A medium-sized climber to about 3m, with light green foliage, flowering from mid-summer to early autumn. The white flowers, tinged blue on the reverse, are up to 10cm across, with textured petals, ruffled edges and deeply marked veins; stamens are pale yellow

How to Grow

Cultivation

Plant in a moisture-retentive, well-drained soil, with the roots and base of the plant kept cool and shaded by other plants or a layer of pebbles at the base. Plant with the crown 5-8cm deep to encourage new shoots to grow from below ground level. Can be grown in containers at least 45cm deep and wide in a peat-free, loam-based potting compost. Propagate by semi-ripe cuttings taken from spring to late summer, or by layering from late winter to spring
