A spreading, deciduous shrub to 2m in height and spread, with dense twisted branches and dark green oval-shaped leaves. Clusters of cup-shaped, dark pink flowers on leafless, thorny branches in spring, followed by aromatic, green-yellow fruits produced in autumn. These can be used to make jams and jellies but please see notes on toxicity for further advice
