A strong, slow-growing, spreading, clump-forming rhizomatous perennial to around 35cm in height, with basal rosettes of lobed and toothed green leaves. Large, single open orange flowers flushed with red appear from May to July. Tolerates both sun and shade

Cultivation

Grow in fertile, moist but well-drained soil in sun or partial shade. Avoid areas that are waterlogged over winter. Divide every three years or so to maintain vigour
