A deciduous shrub to 1.5m high, with dark green, narrowly ovate leaves on dark red-brown stems. Flowers are produced in late summer, in loose conical clusters, opening creamy white and maturing to pale pink and then deep reddish pink. Flower colour develops from the base of the flower head upwards, giving the clusters a two-toned appearance
