A large-sized, evergreen, tropical, epiphytic orchid species. As a monopodial orchid, the new growth appears from a central tip on a short, stout, rhizome. The rhizome is covered in alternate, green, leathery, 25-30cm long leaves. Five or more flowers are carried on 45cm long inflorescences. Flowers, approximately 6cm across are frangrant, heavy-textured and long-lasting. Petals and sepals are vibrant yellow, with brown spots and small, pink lip. The centre of flower is usually white.
