Vigorous, deciduous climber to 3m tall, with mid-green leaves and lilac-pink flowers with a carmine-red central bar and cream anthers, the flowers are semi-double to 20cm across in late spring and early summer on old wood, then single flowers to 15cm across, are borne in late summer on new stems

How to Grow

Cultivation

Plant in moisture-retentive, well-drained soil, with the roots and base of the plant kept cool and shaded by other plants or a layer of pebbles at the base. Plant with the crown 5-8cm deep to encourage new shoots to grow from below ground level. See clematis cultivation
