Grow in light, moderately fertile, humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil. Best in full sun but can tolerate light partial shade
Propagate by division in spring
Remove flower spikes as they fade by cutting back to the next leaf node to encourage more blooms. Wait until late spring to cut back to new growth after the risk of frost has passed
May be susceptible to slugs, snails, rosemary beetle and leafhoppers
May be susceptible to honey fungus (rarely), Powdery mildews, Verticillium wilt and foot and root rots
