A clump-forming herbaceous perennial with slim, dark green leaves with serrated edges. In summer, upright stems produce large, fragrant creamy-white Japanese-form flowers with yellow centres, and further creamy-white petaloids extending from these centres

Cultivation

Best in a deep, fertile, humus-rich soil that is moist but well-drained in a sheltered position in full sun or partial shade. May need support (see staking perennials). See herbaceous peony cultivation
