Dense, rounded, deciduous thorny shrub about 1.2m in height, with dark green, glossy leaves. Clusters of ivory buds open to single, pale yellow-green, cup-shaped flowers produced in spring on bare branches, followed, in autumn, by green fruits ripening to yellow. These can be used to make jams and jellies but please see notes on toxicity for further advice
