Vigorous, broad-spreading, deciduous tree, to 12m tall, with oval, mid-green leaves up to 25cm long. As the leaves open, in mid- to late spring, it produces very large, erect, cup-shaped flowers, up to 35cm across, soft pink outside, white inside, and produced freely from a young age

How to Grow

Cultivation

Grow in moist but well-drained neutral to acid soil in full sun or part shade with shelter from cold winds. Late frosts may damage flower buds. See magnolia cultivation

Propagate by softwood cuttings from late spring to early summer or semi-ripe cuttings from late summer to autumn
