'Aurea' makes a compact, mounded bush, to 70cm tall, 120cm wide. Leaves gold to yellow-green, best in semi-shade as strong sunlight may scorch. Calyx tube and sepals scarlet, petals dark purple
'Thompsonii' is a relatively upright, semi-evergreen shrub to 1.5m with red young stems and grey-green leaves. The slender flowers have a pink calyx and purple petals in summer and autumn
F. magellanica var. gracilis is a medium-sized deciduous shrub with slender, arching branches and small ovate leaves. Flowers single, long stalked. Calyx tube and sepals crimson, the latter long and slender. Petals violet-purple
'Logan Woods' is a bushy, deciduous shrub, to 1.2m tall, with dark green, ovate leaves. The single flowers, borne from summer until the first frosts, have deep pink tubes, pink-flushed white sepals and violet-purple corollas
'Variegata' is an arching deciduous shrub to 60cm, with small, ovate, cream-edged leaves. Flowers single, long-stalked, the sepals and tube crimson, the petals violet-purple
'Riccartonii' is an upright medium-sized deciduous shrub with small ovate leaves. Flowers small, with crimson tube and sepals, petals violet-purple
'Versicolor' is a deciduous shrub with small, grey-green leaves variably margined with cream and flushed pink when young; flowers slender, with red tube and sepals and purple petals
F. magellanica makes an attractive hedge in milder areas, where it can remain semi-evergreen. Flowers have scarlet sepals with a purple corolla
F. magellanica var. molinae is an upright deciduous shrub with small, lance-shaped leaves and slender flowers with very pale pink, almost white tube and sepals, and pale pink petals
'Lady Bacon' is a twiggy, upright, deciduous shrub with small, dark green leaves and slender, hanging, red, pink and purple flowers from mid-summer to early autumn
