It is included in an evolving list of plants carefully researched and chosen by RHS experts. Divided into 3 groups these lists, linked below, are maintained by a team of RHS staff and are reviewed annually.
C. dammeri is a vigorous, prostrate evergreen shrub spreading to 2m, with small, rounded veiny leaves and small white flowers in early summer, followed by bright red berries
C. dielsianus is an elegant, medium-sized deciduous shrub to 3m, with slender arching to pendulous branches. The leaves have slightly impressed veins above, grey or greenish felting beneath, colouring brightly in autumn. The clusters of summer flowers are pinkish, followed by scarlet berries
C. adpressus is a prostrate, deciduous shrub of dense habit, spreading to 2m. Small, rounded, wavy-edged leaves turn red in autumn. Flowers small, white, followed by bright red berries
C. amoenus is a densely-branched evergreen shrub to 1.5m. Small glossy green leaves are greyish woolly below. White flowers with pinkish purple anthers, in June, are followed by bright red berries borne in clusters at the end of short twigs
C. bullatus is a large deciduous shrub with deeply-veined ovate leaves turning red and orange in autumn. Flowers small, pale pink in early summer, followed by relatively large, bright red berries which colour early
'Rothschildianus' is a large deciduous or semi-evergreen shrub to 5m, with large, narrowly-lanceolate leaves and small white flowers in large clusters, followed by pale creamy-yellow berries
'Decorus' is a medium-sized evergreen shrub with arching branches to 2m in spread. Leaves small, glossy dark green. Abundant small white flowers are followed by long-lasting red berries
'Hybridus Pendulus' is a vigorous prostrate evergreen shrub with large, elliptic leaves and small white flowers followed by profuse red berries in autumn; often top-grafted to form a pendulous small tree to 2m tall
'Coral Beauty' is a rounded evergreen shrub with small, glossy dark green leaves and small white flowers followed by orange-red berries
'Cornubia' is a large semi-evergreen shrub to 6m, rounded and compact in growth, with elliptic, dark green leaves to 12cm in length. Flowers white, followed by large trusses of bright red berries
