This plant will provide nectar and pollen for bees and the many other types of pollinating insects.
It is included in an evolving list of plants carefully researched and chosen by RHS experts. Divided into 3 groups these lists, linked below, are maintained by a team of RHS staff and are reviewed annually.
A. lactiflora is a robust herbaceous perennial to 1.5m, with jaggedly-cut, dark green leaves and tall plumes of small, creamy-white flower-heads
'Lambrook Mist' is an erect, woody-based perennial to 1m tall, with aromatic silvery-grey leaves to 15cm long, finely divided into very slender lobes, and slender sprays of small, dull yellow flower heads in late summer
A. absinthium is an upright deciduous perennial, with finely divided, highly aromatic grey-green foliage and rather insignificant yellowish flowers in late summer
Oriental Limelight is an upright, bushy herbaceous perennial. The aromatic foliage has ragged edges and is bright green generously splashed with creamy-yellow. The insignificant flowers appear in late summer
A. vallesiaca is a woody-based herbaceous perennial to 45cm in height, with silvery-white leaves 2-4cm in length, finely divided into linear segments. Flowerheads small, yellowish, in arching spikes
'Boughton Silver' is a low-growing, spreading, evergreen, herbaceous perennial. The aromatic leaves are grey-white and deeply lobed. Insignificant, yellow flowers appear on tall stems in late summer and early autumn
A. arborescens is an upright evergreen shrub with silvery leaves finely divided into narrow segments, and long, one-sided sprays of small yellow flowers in late summer
A. pontica is a vigorous herbaceous perennial making a spreading clump of upright stems to 75cm, clad in dissected, grey-green, highly aromatic leaves, with small greyish-yellow flowerheads in panicles at the tips of the stems
A. frigida is a tufted perennial to 30cm, woody at the base, with semi-evergreen, silky, light grey leaves divided into thread-like lobes and small yellow flower-heads in panicles
'Powis Castle' is an evergreen dwarf shrub of low, rounded habit, with finely divided, silvery leaves and, in late summer, insignificant dull yellow flower-heads in narrow panicles
