It is included in an evolving list of plants carefully researched and chosen by RHS experts. Divided into 3 groups these lists, linked below, are maintained by a team of RHS staff and are reviewed annually.
'Moerloosei' is a medium-sized deciduous shrub, spreading in habit, with glossy, ovate leaves 4-9cm in length. Flowers 3.5cm in width, white, tinged with deep pink, followed by apple-shaped, greenish-yellow fruit 5cm across, fragrant when ripe
C. speciosa is a vigorous, wide-spreading deciduous shrub with tangled, spiny branches and glossy, oval, dark green leaves. In spring it bears small clusters of red, bowl-shaped flowers 4cm across, followed by green-yellow, sweetly-scented fruit resembling small apples
'Jet Trail' is a compact, spreading shrub to 1m tall and 1.2m wide with glossy oval to oblong leaves. A profusion of pure white flowers up to 4.5cm in diameter open in small clusters on the bare stems in early spring and are followed by green fruits which ripen to yellow
'Scarlet Storm' is a rounded shrub to 1.5m, producing large, double, red flowers 5cm across before the leaves are fully open in spring. Unlike most flowering quinces, is not spiny and does not produce fruit
C. cathayensis Is a vigorous, upright deciduous shrub or small tree with spiny shoots and lance-shaped leaves up to 12cm long. Pink-flushed white flowers, 4cm across, are borne in small clusters in spring, followed by yellow-green fruit up to 15cm long
'Geisha Girl' is a compact deciduous shrub with semi-double salmon-pink flowers borne on leafless branches in early spring, sometimes followed by fragrant yellow fruits
'Orange Beauty' is a spreading, thorny shrub with rounded, glossy leaves, red-flushed when young. Clusters of red-orange, cup-shaped flowers are produced in spring, followed by yellow, scented fruit
'Crimson and Gold' is a small, spiny deciduous shrub of spreading habit, with glossy, obovate leaves to 5cm in length. Flowers 3.5cm in width, deep crimson with prominent golden anthers, followed by fragrant yellow fruit 5cm in length
'Knap Hill Scarlet' is a spreading small deciduous shrub, with glossy obovate leaves to 5cm in length. Flowers to 4cm in width, bright orange-scarlet. Fruits yellow, apple-shaped, fragrant when ripe
'Nicoline' is a small deciduous shrub of spreading habit with oblong leaves to 5cm in length, and scarlet flowers 3.5cm in width, followed by apple-like fruits, yellow and fragrant when ripe
