This plant will provide nectar and pollen for bees and the many other types of pollinating insects.
It is included in an evolving list of plants carefully researched and chosen by RHS experts. Divided into 3 groups these lists, linked below, are maintained by a team of RHS staff and are reviewed annually.
L. × watereri is a small deciduous tree with trifoliate leaves that are slightly hairy beneath. In late spring and early summer, dense, drooping racemes of pea-like yellow flowers appear followed by partially-developed hairy seed pods
C. multiflorus is an erect, medium-sized deciduous shrub with slender, greyish shoots bearing small creamy-white flowers in great profusion in late spring and early summer
'Adamii' is a small spring-flowering deciduous tree with some branches bearing foliage and yellow flowers of common laburnum, others those of purple broom, and many intermediate dull yellowish-pink flowers
'Vossii' is a broad-crowned small deciduous tree with deep green, ternate leaves. Bright yellow flowers in drooping racemes to 60cm in length
C. ardoinoi is a low, spreading deciduous shrub to 12cm in height, forming low mats with small, trifoliate leaves. Flowers bright yellow, 12mm in length, in leaf axils
S. tetraptera is a large, spreading semi-evergreen shrub with pinnate leaves to 15cm long, composed of many small, ovate leaflets. Flowers appearing tubular, yellow, to 5cm long, in drooping clusters in late spring
P. nepalensis is a bushy evergreen shrub with leaves composed of 3 elliptic, dark green leaflets, blue-green on the underside, and short racemes of yellow flowers 4cm long in late spring and early summer, followed by flat green pods
'Pendulum' is a small tree with strongly pendulous branches, bearing racemes of yellow flowers in late spring
