L. orientalis is a slow-growing, large shrub or bushy tree with five-lobed, palmate leaves turning red, yellow and orange in autumn. Inconspicuous green flowers are followed by spiky, spherical seed clusters that persist into winter
'Corky' is an upright, narrowly pyramidal, deciduous, small to medium-sized tree up to 12m tall with deeply lobed, glossy green leaves that turn crimson red in autumn. Very pronounced wing-like, corky projections on the stems and bark are a feature of established trees. Inconspicuous greenish flowers may be followed by burr-like fruit, 2-4cm across, that stay on the tree through winter
'Worplesdon' is a broad-crowned medium-sized deciduous tree with five-lobed, maple-like leaves which turn to deep orange and yellow in autumn. Flowers insignificant
'Penwood' is a medium-sized, upright, conical tree. The five-lobed leaves are bright green, turning rich red in autumn and maintaining the display for longer than average before falling. Inconspicuous flowers are followed by burr-like fruit that stay on the tree through winter
'Silver King' is a large, upright, conical tree. The five-lobed leaves have irregular, creamy-white margins, spreading into the leaves to create grey-green areas, and developing a pink flush in late summer. Leaves turn purple and dark red in autumn, but retain the pale border. Inconspicuous flowers are followed by burr-like fruit that stay on the tree through winter
'Lane Roberts' is a broad-crowned medium-sized deciduous tree with maple-like, dark, glossy green leaves which turn to deep blackish-crimson for several weeks in autumn. Flowers insignificant, sometimes followed by burr-like fruit clusters
'Burgundy Flush' is a medium-sized branching tree growing to 15m tall. The three-lobed leaves, up to 15cm across, emerge a burgundy-purple in spring, darken to green in summer and are a burgundy-red colour in the autumn
'Wisley King' is a large, upright, deciduous tree with a broadly conical outline. Its five-lobed, glossy leaves turn through orange and yellow to a brilliant crimson red in autumn
