It is included in an evolving list of plants carefully researched and chosen by RHS experts. Divided into 3 groups these lists, linked below, are maintained by a team of RHS staff and are reviewed annually.
'Ashby' is a bushy plant growing to 90cm tall and wide at maturity. The lobed, scented leaves are mid- to dark-green and flowers are a pink-purple colour with dark central markings on the upper petals
'Rodomont' is a trailing plant with stems to 30cm, and semi-double, deep rose-pink flowers, the lower petals streaked with purple
'Bushfire' is a bushy plant to 50cm, with bright red flowers, each petal with a dark blotch
'Mrs G.H. Smith' is a white-flowered cultivar with a feathered flash of cerise on the upper two petals. Its dainty, viola-shaped blooms are borne profusely through the growing season
'Copthorne' is a bushy plant to 50cm in height, with boldly lobed, spicily-scented leaves and light mauve flowers with the upper petals marked with purple
'Radula' is a robust, bushy plant to 75cm in height, with lemon and rose-scented leaves deeply cut into narrow segments, and small pink flowers marked with purple
'Mrs J.C. Mappin' is an erect plant to 45cm with grey-green leaves edged with creamy-white, and small clusters of single white flowers with salmon-pink eye
'Vancouver Centennial' is a compact plant to 25cm in height, with lobed, bronze and golden-brown leaves and clusters of orange-red flowers
'Brian West Butterfly' is a small, evergreen, bushy plant. The green leaves have a lighter green, butterfly-shaped central marking and double pink flowers fading to a white eye are borne in spring and summer
'Flower of Spring' grows to 45cm in height, with rounded leaves margined with white, and large clusters of single scarlet flowers
