S. erythraeum is a mat-forming, evergreen perennial with open rosettes of succulent, ovate to spoon-shaped leaves coloured green with a purple tinge and covered with dense, short hairs giving the leaves a velvety look. Flowering stems, up to 20cm long, carry pink to reddish-purple flowers up to 2cm in diameter
'Othello' is an evergreen cultivar with large dark red rosettes of broad leaves. Starry pink flowers are borne by older rosettes in summer. Although individual rosettes die after flowering, each plant will survive by forming offsets
S. altum is an evergreen, mat-forming perennial comprising rosettes, up to 4cm across, of light green, hairy, succulent leaves with tips that turn red in strong light. Offsets are produced on stolons that are up to 12cm long and pink to purple flowers, with yellow anthers, are held above the foliage on stems up to 40cm tall
'Green Dragon' is an evergreen, mat-forming perennial comprising compact rosettes of bright green, red-tipped, hairy, oval to oblong leaves. Leafy flowering stems, to 20cm tall, bear clusters of pink flowers in summer
S. arachnoideum var. bryoides is a mat-forming, evergreen perennial, to 12cm tall, comprising very small rosettes, up to 1cm in diameter, of oval, fleshy green leaves tipped with red and covered in a web of white hairs. Mature rosettes can form a stem with a terminal cluster of pink flowers in the summer
A. sempervivoides is a mat-forming evergreen perennial, producing sprays of pink to mauve-pink, yellow-eyed, scented flowers 10mm across in spring. The eyes turn red with age, and the flower stems are also red
'Blood Tip' is a mat-forming, evergreen perennial with clusters of fleshy rosettes to 10cm in width, the leaves are blue-green with variable amounts of deep red on the tips. Sprays of starry pink flowers are produced on stout stems up to 20cm tall in summer
S. ciliosum is a fleshy, mat-forming perennial with very hairy, globose grey-green rosettes to 5cm in width, and cymes of greenish-yellow flowers on stems to 10cm
'Kramer's Spinrad' is a an evergreen, mat-forming perennial comprising clusters of fleshy-leaved rosettes up to 7.5cm in diameter. The pale greyish-green leaves are flushed red and tipped with fine white hairs giving a cobweb effect. Flowering stems, up to 15cm tall, bear pink flowers in summer
'Jubilee' is a small, mat-forming, evergreen perennial, to 15cm tall, with medium-sized rosettes of hairy leaves; each rosette up to 2.5cm in diameter. Leaves are a pale green with a deep maroon flush in spring and early summer before turning back to green in late summer. Pale pink flowers are borne on stout stems in summer
