It is included in an evolving list of plants carefully researched and chosen by RHS experts. Divided into 3 groups these lists, linked below, are maintained by a team of RHS staff and are reviewed annually.
'Fastigiata' is a large, bushy, upright evergreen shrub, columnar when young, later broader, with erect shoots bearing radially arranged, dark green leaves
'Repens Aurea' is a low, wide-spreading evergreen shrub with narrow leathery leaves edged yellow when young, later cream
'Icicle' is a slow-growing cultivar, reaching around 60cm in height over 10 years. The evergreen, needle-shaped leaves are edged in yellow for most of the year, but this band turns white in winter giving an overall frosted appearance
'Standishii' is a dense, columnar, slow-growing medium-sized evergreen shrub with erect branches clothed in spreading, rich yellow leaves
'Fastigiata Aureomarginata' is a large, compact evergreen shrub, columnar when young, later broadly columnar, the erect shoots with spreading, yellow-margined leaves
'Repandens' is a small but wide-spreading evergreen shrub with long trailing shoots clothed in narrow, dark green leaves
'Semperaurea' is a large, bushy evergreen shrub, eventually wider than tall, with erect branches and dense golden-yellow foliage, tinged orange in winter
'Dovastonii Aurea' is a large evergreen shrub with spreading branches and drooping yellow branchlets bearing narrow leaves edged with bright yellow
T. baccata is a medium-sized bushy evergreen tree with narrow, leathery, very dark green leaves arranged in two rows on the shoots, and insignificant flowers followed on female plants by fleshy red fruits
'Hicksii' is a large, broadly columnar evergreen shrub with ascending branches clothed with spreading, glossy mid-green, spine-tipped leaves, sometimes bearing red fruits
