E. × perralchicum is an evergreen perennial to 40cm in height, forming a mat of leaves divided into 3-5 spiny-edged, ovate leaflets. Open sprays of bright yellow flowers 15mm in width
E. ogisui is a clump-forming rhizomatous perennial up to 35cm high, with evergreen leaves divided into three ovate to narrowly ovate, spiny-toothed leaflets, each up to 6cm long, which emerge marbled with red in spring and mature to mid-green, and spikes of pure white flowers up to 2.5cm across with wide sepals and petals with long, slightly curved spurs, from early spring to mid-spring; Epimedium leaves may be used for their nests by leaf-cutting bees
'Golden Eagle' is a clump-forming rhizomatous perennial 25cm high in leaf, up to 1m high in flower, with evergreen leaves, marked with red when young before becoming shiny mid green, and tall red stems of spidery flowers with pale cream sepals and long-spurred, pale yellow petals, in early spring, and intermittently on to autumn; Epimedium leaves may be used for their nests by leaf-cutting bees
E. brevicornu is a clump-forming rhizomatous perennial 20-60cm high, with deciduous, heart-shaped leaves which open light green, blotched with bronze, and mature to darker green, and starry flowers with white inner sepals, small white petals that have yellow margins at the mouth and only tiny spurs, and bright yellow anthers, in early spring; Epimedium leaves may be used for their nests by leaf-cutting bees
E. epsteinii is a dense, low-growing, evergreen perennial with bristle-edged, elongated heart-shaped leaves, bronze when young, and loose sprays of up to 30 white and grey-purple flowers, on 25cm stems, in spring
'Akame' is a clump-forming rhizomatous perennial 35cm high, with evergreen, narrowly heart-shaped leaves that emerge speckled and marbled with bronze and mature to shining green, and long stems of spidery flowers of short red sepals and orange-red petals with yellow mouths and white spurs tipped with yellow, in late spring; Epimedium leaves may be used for their nests by leaf-cutting bees
E. × cantabrigense is a carpeting perennial, to 45cm high, with ovate, toothed foliage, red-tinted when young, turning mid-green and finally red in autumn. Flowers are coppery-pink, with yellow inner petals, held on profusions of tall stems in spring
E. davidii is a deciduous perennial, to 30cm in height and 45cm spread, with bronze-tinted, toothed foliage in spring turning light green when mature. Yellow, long-spurred flowers, 2cm in width, open beneath russet-brown sepals which are carried on coral-red stems in spring
E. × rubrum is a deciduous, rhizomatous perennial to 30cm in height, with attractive, red-tinted young foliage which colours also in autumn. Flowers 2cm in width, crimson, with creamy-yellow spurs
'Enchantress' is a clump-forming rhizomatous perennial 25-30cm high, evergreen, ternate leaves with narrowly heart-shaped, spiny-edged leaflets which emerge marbled and splashed dark bronze-red in spring and mature to bright green with red veins, and flowers of lavender-grey sepals, pale pink-lilac petals with white spurs and mouths edged with purple, and prominent yellow stamens, in spring; Epimedium leaves may be used for their nests by leaf-cutting bees
