It is included in an evolving list of plants carefully researched and chosen by RHS experts. Divided into 3 groups these lists, linked below, are maintained by a team of RHS staff and are reviewed annually.
'Splendens Plena' is a compact tufted perennial to 45cm in height, with sticky stems bearing narrow, dark green leaves, and double, bright magenta-pink flowers 2cm in width in narrow panicles in early and mid summer
'White Robin' is an upright perennial to 70cm, with branched stems bearing opposite, lance-shaped leaves and, in late spring and early summer, terminal clusters of star-shaped white flowers, each petal deeply cut into four narrow segments
L. coronaria is an erect biennial or short-lived perennial with silvery-grey felted leaves and lax sprays of long-stalked, vivid rose-purple flowers 3cm across in late summer
L. flos-jovis is a perennial forming a mat of grey-hairy leaves with erect stems bearing clusters of red, pink or white flowers 2.5cm across in summer
Atrosanguinea Group are erect short-lived perennials or biennials with silvery-grey, felted, oval to lance-shaped leaves and reddish-purple to vivid magenta flowers on branched stems in summer
L. viscaria is a mat-forming to tufted perennial, to 45cm in height, with sticky stems bearing narrow, dark green leaves, and clusters of purplish-pink flowers, 2cm in width, in early and mid-summer
'Alba' is a short-lived perennial or biennial to 90cm tall, with grey, softly hairy leaves and rounded white flowers 3cm wide in branched stems in summer
Red campion is a short-lived perennial t bears its male and female flowers on separate plants. Plants form clumps of downy leaves from which emerge flowering stems up to 1m in height. Flowering is mainly in late spring. Flowers have five deeply notched, pink petals. Seed capsules have toothed edges as they open to disperse ripe seed on female plants
L. flos-cuculi is an upright perennial to 70cm, with branched stems bearing opposite, lance-shaped leaves and, in late spring and early summer, terminal clusters of star-shaped deep rose-pink flowers, each petal deeply cut into 4 narrow segments
'Petite Jenny' is a compact, upright perennial to 35cm tall with branched stems bearing lance-shaped leaves. Clusters of soft pink, finely cut, double flowers are borne from late spring into early summer
