It is included in an evolving list of plants carefully researched and chosen by RHS experts. Divided into 3 groups these lists, linked below, are maintained by a team of RHS staff and are reviewed annually.
'Tandara Gold' Is a large, bushy, evergreen shrub or small tree with black stems and small, thin, leathery, yellow-green leaves with irregular, dark green margins. May produce small clusters of tiny, scented, dark purple flowers in late spring and early summer
'Silver Magic' is an erect, bushy, evergreen shrub, to 4m tall, with small, almost flat, silvery-green leaves with a creamy-yellow margin flushed pale pink. Small, lightly-scented, dark purple flowers are borne in late spring and early summer
'Limelight' is a large bushy shrub, or small tree, up to 3m high with shoots that are green when young, becoming greenish-brown with age; the large, glossy, elliptic, almost flat leaves, up to 5.5cm long, are lime-green with dark green margins and pale midribs. Scented, dark brown-maroon flowers appear in late spring or early summer
'Silver Sheen' is a columnar, fairly open-growing large shrub or small tree, up to 5m high, with dark reddish-purple stems, and very small, pale green ovate leaves with a greyish-silver sheen. Male, scented, dark brown-maroon flowers appear in late spring or early summer
'Irene Paterson' is a slow-growing evergreen shrub, the rounded, undulate leaves opening white, becoming dark green speckled with white and often tinged pink in winter. Fragrant deep purple flowers are produced rather sparsely from late spring
'Garnettii' is a dense bushy medium-sized evergreen shrub of erect habit, with rounded grey-green leaves narrowly edged with cream and sometimes tinged pink in winter, and small deep purple flowers in clusters
'Abbotsbury Gold' is an evergreen shrub to 3m tall and wide, with rounded leathery yellow leaves margined with dark green; fragrant deep purple flowers 1cm wide open in late spring and early summer
P. tobira 'Nanum' is a small, dense, slow-growing, evergreen shrub to about 1m with leathery, glossy, obovate leaves, and large, terminal umbels of small,l sweetly-scented flowers opening white, soon turning yellow, in late spring and early summer
'Golf Ball' is an evergreen shrub with bright green leaves, naturally producing a dense, rounded globe up to 1m in diameter. Good for a low hedge and seldom needs clipping
'Variegatum' is a large, bushy evergreen shrub with slender, dark shoots and glossy oval leaves margined with creamy-white; small, fragrant pale yellow flowers are borne in terminal clusters in summer
