Working at such an esteemed garden here with friendly and very knowledgeable colleagues is a joy

I joined the Trials Team at RHS Garden Wisley in March 2014 as a horticulturist. Working at such an esteemed garden here with friendly and very knowledgeable colleagues is a joy. I am always looking to challenge myself and improve my horticultural knowledge and skills.

In 2015 I'm look after six trials; Stipa grasses, Agapanthus, Viburnum plicatum sp., Physocarpus, hybrid berries and, new this year, leeks.

I previously worked for more than 15 years at Southover Grange Gardens, a 3 acre public garden in Lewes, East Sussex; 12 years as Head Gardener.

I initially trained as an architect at the University of Sheffield but decided to change career back in 1996. I studied horticulture at Plumpton College, East Sussex and undertook a professional course in garden design there as well. I have passed the RHS Advanced Certificate and am about to take the RHS Level 3 course.
