Pulling Back Time

Show Gardens
Designed by female prisoners as part of their rehabilitation and horticulture qualifications, this garden highlights the effect that horticulture has on a person’s health and well-being. It provides a tranquil and contemplative environment to reflect and take time to focus on what is important in life, especially in today’s society in which we all seem to be ‘working against the clock’.

The women have used the positive message of ‘Pulling Back Time’ to reflect on darker times and to grow in confidence. The plants have been grown as part of the women’s horticultural qualifications.

The garden will be relocated to HMP & YOI Styal as an educational resource, as well as inspiring women and helping to boost self-esteem and well-being.

With thanks to HMP Styal, Novus Foundations for Change, HMP Altcourse, Alison and Alistair Hutchinson and Newgate Nurseries for their support creating the garden.
