Each year at Chelsea we invite the public to vote for their favourites in different areas of the show. The winner of each category is the choice that receives the most votes and wins the coveted People’s Choice award

RHS Chelsea Plant of the Decade

There were two awards for the RHS Chelsea Plant of the Decade. The first was decided by RHS President Sir Nicholas Bacon, who has participated in the shortlisting for RHS Plant of the Year since 2013 and headed up a panel of experts. The second was decided by the People’s Choice vote.

Streptocarpus ‘Harlequin Blue’

This was the Plant of the Year in 2010. Bred in the UK, it is the first separately bi-coloured Streptocarpus, yellow on the outer petals, contrasting with the blue upper petals. This houseplant has certainly stood the test of time and continues to have appeal. It can flower for up to eight months of the year, is compact and attractive, and likes to be on the dry side between waterings, so is ideal for today’s indoor gardens.

Viburnum plicatum f. tomentosum KILIMANJARO SUNRISE (‘Jww5’)

A multi-stemmed, upright, compact, slow-growing shrub, exhibited by Burncoose Nurseries, with very pretty, white-flushed-pink lacecap-like flowers appearing on its tiered branches in early summer.

RHS Chelsea Garden Product of the Year

An RHS panel compiled a shortlist of 11 finalists in the RHS Chelsea Garden Product of the Year 2020 competition, all of which were new to the market within the last 12 months. The judges selected their favourite and asked the voters to have their say to find the People's Choice.

WINNER | Vegepod - Vegebags

The judges commented that the Vegebag is perfect for keen and aspiring gardeners for protecting crops of fruit or vegetables from a variety of pests, even pigeons and inquisitive pets. It’s a perfect size for city gardening, balconies, patios and larger space. The size and features of the Vegebag allow excellent access for tending and picking.

PEOPLE'S CHOICE WINNER | Wilstone – Potting Table

PEOPLE'S CHOICE WINNER | The nation's favourite Chelsea garden was announced on the BBC

The winner of the RHS People's Choice Garden of the Decade was picked by the nation from the past 10 years of Best Show Gardens at Chelsea, and was announced at 5.50pm on the BBC on Sunday 31 May.
