Nestled on the edge of Harrogate in North Yorkshire, RHS Harlow Carr has a rich history of sharing the joy, science, and wellbeing of horticulture. The site began as Victorian spa baths, tapping into the area’s natural sulphur springs, and was transformed into gardens in 1946 to trial plants suited to the northern climate.

Since 2001, under the RHS, the garden has grown into a vibrant 58-acre garden, showcasing ornamental design, biodiversity, and Yorkshire heritage – a place to inspire, educate, and delight every visitor.

With your support RHS Harlow Carr can continue to flourish and inspire. Your donation could help to:

  • Refresh the Streamside with vibrant planting, improved paths, and water features
  • Restore heritage by preserving the Old Bath House and enhancing the café
  • Boost learning through school programmes, library resources, and inclusive access
  • Grow community by expanding gardening, biodiversity, and wellbeing spaces

Streamside

Help support the continued redevelopment of the much-loved Streamside:

The Streamside is the beating heart of RHS Harlow Carr. Geoffrey Smith, one of the garden’s early custodians, initiated the planting schemes around Streamside – now considered one of the jewels in the garden’s crown. Vibrant candelabra primulas, lush hostas, and airy astilbes line the sparkling beck, creating a scene of year-round beauty. Your donation helps protect its banks, refresh planting, and keep this beloved feature thriving for every season and every visitor.
