Open doors to horticultural careers

Help create inclusive training opportunities that grow skills in gardening:

Harvested vegetables
Apprentice harvesting potatoes and radishes

At the five RHS Gardens, learners get hands-on training in skills like harvesting, plant propagation, caring for seasonal borders, and sustainable gardening.

RHS experts lead these practical programmes, helping students and apprentices build real skills and a strong start for a lifelong career.

Many graduates go on to work successfully as professional gardeners all over the country – including here at the RHS.

Horticulture faces a critical skills shortage. Yet for many people, especially those from backgrounds that haven’t always had access to green careers, training pathways remain out of reach.

By supporting RHS Education, you’re helping to change that. Your gift helps build inclusive, high-quality training programmes that equip people with the confidence and capabilities to succeed. Together, a more sustainable, diverse future for horticulture can grow.

Helping the next generation thrive

None of this is possible without the generous support of donors. These generous gifts fund the training, resources, and expert guidance that helps learners blossom into confident, skilled horticulturists.

New Shoots: Growing Greener Skills Gardens

Help support the creation of Greener Skills Gardens and inspire future horticulturists:

Potting on a houseplant
Learning greener skills such as potting on houseplants

New, inclusive spaces are being created at RHS Gardens Harlow Carr, Hyde Hall and Rosemoor – designed to inspire people from all backgrounds to learn greener skills and explore careers in horticulture.

With your help, these Greener Skills Gardens will grow into thriving learning hubs – helping close the green skills gap and giving more people the opportunity to grow, connect and flourish.

School children: Engaging learning experiences

Help inspire the next generation of nature-lovers to grow, learn, and thrive:

Each year, RHS Gardens host free, hands-on workshops for over 40,000 school children – helping them build confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of the natural world.

Your support enables the delivery of these engaging learning experiences, opening young eyes to the wonders of gardening and the importance of protecting the planet.
