Horticulturist (Level I) - RHS Rosemoor

Having worked in horticulture since 2008, my primary role is in the plant nursery

I have worked at RHS Rosemoor for almost three years. My primary role is in the plant nursery but my time is split between the model gardens, the Brash children’s play area and the nursery. I came to Rosemoor as a maternity relief and was very fortunate that a full time position came up at the right time.

I have worked in horticulture since 2008, spending initially one year in landscaping and a few years as a self-employed gardener in and around my then home town of Exeter. I also spent two years with an organisation that used horticulture as a tool to assist people who were suffering from mental health issues to re-integrate into the workplace.

Horticulture is my second career; I spent the previous twenty three years in the Royal Navy during which time I visited most corners of the world. Like every career, there were good and not so good times. I think that one of the most memorable times was when my submarine surfaced through the ice at the North Pole and I was allowed to play a game of cricket on it!

I live now in Dawlish with Angie, my wife of twenty one years. Outside of gardening my interests are motorcycle racing and Ballroom and Latin dancing.
