RHS Partner Garden of the Year terms and conditions

Terms for the RHS Partner Garden of the Year Competition, covering eligibility, voting, awards, branding use and RHS rights

1. Eligibility and entry

All Partner Gardens that have supplied their previous year’s total visitor numbers to the RHS and submitted their entry form will be entered into the competition unless one or more of the following apply:

  • The RHS Partner Garden is hosting an RHS Flower Show during that year
  • The Partner Garden has notified the RHS, before the date of judging, of its decision to leave the Scheme at or before the end of that year
  • The RHS Partner Garden is for sale between 1 March and the date of judging in that year
  • The RHS Partner Garden is a previous winner of the competition, in which case it will be ineligible for the following two years
2. Online voting
All RHS Partner Gardens entered into the competition will be included in an online voting form hosted on the RHS website. The opening and closing dates for online voting will be published on the RHS website each year.
3. Judging and regional winners

Following the close of online voting, the judges will select six RHS Partner Gardens as regional winners for:

  • Scotland and Northern Ireland
  • North of England (North West and North East regions)
  • Midlands and East
  • South West and Wales
  • South East and Channel Islands
  • Overseas

The judges will also select one of the regional winners as the overall winner. The overall winner must be a UK RHS Partner Garden. All judges’ decisions are final.

4. Prizes and recognition
The RHS may publish details of the winners on the RHS website, in The Garden magazine and across other RHS media. The RHS may use the names and images of RHS Partner Gardens selected as winners for publicity relating to the competition and the Scheme in the year of selection and in subsequent years.
5. Use of branding and logos
The RHS Partner Garden of the Year brand and logos may only be used by winning RHS Partner Gardens and only in accordance with the RHS Partner Garden guidelines and terms.
6. Changes to the competition
The RHS reserves the right to end, suspend, withdraw or vary the competition, whether temporarily or permanently, at any time. Where practicable, reasonable notice of any such change will be provided.
