At RHS Garden Bridgewater we believe anyone and everyone should be able to garden, regardless of circumstances. This workshop will be the first of a new series of 90 minute workshops designed for ‘Absolute Beginners’

The Gardening Without a Garden Workshop recognises that not everybody has access to a typical garden space, especially in urban or shared living environments. In this 90 minute workshop you’ll gain the confidence to see any space as a green space, and acquire the knowledge to cultivate your own garden oasis, whether indoors or outdoors, tiny or expansive, oddly shaped, along a wall or occupying a windowsill. If you love to grow plants and are in need of inspiration to start growing in a limited space you have available then join RHS Bridgewater’s Gardening Advice Team for a workshop sharing top tips on:

  • Selecting ornamental and edible plants for small areas or awkward spaces
  • Overcoming challenging growing conditions
  • Container gardening
  • Growing vertically and at height
  • Indoor gardening
  • Seed sowing, cuttings, watering and compost

There will also be the opportunity to gain hands-on experience of planting and propagation, and to get started with your growing by taking a plant home with you. There are so many ways to enjoy the benefits that growing in urban spaces can bring. If you love to grow plants, consider yourself a gardener, and don’t want to let the size or shape of your space hold you back.

This workshop is for over 16s. Garden entry for non-member is included in the ticket price.

Tutors: Andy Vernon and Clare Preston-Pollitt, RHS Bridgewater’s Gardening Advice Team
