Spend time creating beautiful botanicals in pen and watercolour with artist Kate Dawes. A relaxed pen & watercolour workshop, suitable for adults of all abilities, from absolute beginners to the more experienced artist, who would like to try a new technique and approach to art.

Kate will show you different techniques of pen drawing, along with how to overlay 'dry' watercolour to create beautiful botanical art.

The workshop will be split into two phases – firstly, pen drawing and then 'dry' watercolour. The session will start with Kate showing you different pen drawing styles. She will help guide you to find a pen technique that suits you. Once you have done some pen drawing, Kate will help you find the best watercolour technique to complement your pen work.

She will offer support and guidance throughout, to help everyone develop their personal style, understand composition, colour mixing, and achieve a more confident approach to art.

The workshop will head into the garden to practise pen drawing techniques, and plants provided by the RHS Garden Bridgewater will inspire you. By the end of the workshop, you will have created an A4 botanical artwork to take home with you.

Please note: This workshop takes place in our Stables Learning Studio and is not suitable for wheelchairs or those with limited mobility, as it is accessed by stairs.
