Discretionary Awards

The Discretionary Awards champion activities and practices that are helping to create stronger, more resilient communities, through gardening.

Developed with the RHS expert teams, the awards aim to encourage community gardening that improves the natural environment, educates, involves others and bolsters the resilience of the places where we live.

The awards were previously restricted to Bloom UK Finalist entrants, but are now open to all groups participating in Britain in Bloom and It’s Your Neighbourhood.

Groups which are able to demonstrate good examples of best practice are likely to have the most chance of receiving a Discretionary Award. Learn more about what the judges are looking for by exploring the examples of best practice detailed below for each award.

To apply within your regional competition, contact your It's Your Neighbourhood coordinator. To apply as part of the the UK Finals, check the details on the Finalists Hub.
