Dense, compact, slow-growing evergreen shrub or tree about 2-3m tall, with a rounded habit and green stems striped greenish-yellow bearing dark green, generally spineless, glossy foliage mottled yellow-green and grey with an irregular yellow margin. Clusters of small white flowers appear in spring, this male cultivar does not produce berries but makes a good pollinator for female holly plants
