Compact, slow-growing small evergreen shrub about 1.5-2m in height, with a dense, rounded habit. Green stems striped greenish-yellow bear dark green, generally spineless, glossy foliage mottled yellow-green and grey with an irregular yellow margin. This male cultivar produces clusters of small white flowers in late spring, it does not produce berries but is a useful pollinator for female holly plants
