Arbutus integrifolia
An evergreen, short-trunked tree or large shrub with attractive bark. Bright green leaves and cream, bell-shaped flowers which ripen to red-orange berries, give this year-round interest. Whilst the fruits are edible and used to make jams and liqueurs in some countries, they are generally grown for ornamental purposes only in the UK
