A wild, species dahlia with tuberous roots, growing up to 2m, with dark stems and bright green leaves divided into three pointed leaflets. In late summer to early autumn, may produce nodding, star-shaped single blooms 5cm across, with eight, pointed, lilac-pink petals with a yellow, central disc, though may be shy to flower
