A spreading, deciduous tree to about 15m tall, with large, oval dark green leaves 18cm long, silvery on the reverse, and cup-shaped, deep purple-pink flowers creamy-white inside, with 12 tepals, up to 15cm across produced in early-mid spring before the leaves

Cultivation
