A sturdy, upright to slightly spreading shrub with a compact habit, to around 140cm in height with yellow-green foliage and dark, purplish-red stems, maturing to brown. Dense, conical, tapered panicles of cream fertile flower buds with pink tips and sterile lime-green flowers turning to pale green, white then dark pink as they mature, appear in summer. The flowers have a spicy fragrance
