A deciduous shrub with a vase-shaped habit which spreads with age, extending to 2.5m tall and 3m wide. It has broadly oval dark-green leaves that turn yellow in autumn and twisted and crimped spidery pale sulphur-yellow flowers. The blooms have no scent and appear on the bare branches from February to March
