Bushy, dense, evergreen shrub with prickly, leathery and glossy golden yellow foliage with dark green margins. After the small white spring flowers, the female cultivar produces bright red berries in autumn if a pollinator is nearby. Reaching a height of up to 3m, this variety is suitable for hedging, but also makes an attractive specimen plant

Cultivation

Easy to grow in well-drained soil in a sunny position. Although partial shade is suitable, variegated cultivars have better leaf colour in full sun

Propagate by semi-ripe cuttings in late summer or early autumn or propagate by hardwood cuttings in January with bottom heat
