A semi-evergreen shrub to around 1m (3.2ft). Growth is upright, bushy with dark-green leaves that are strongly flushed with dark purple. In summer it produces bright yellow flowers with prominent stamens. These are followed in autumn by clusters of oval, rich mahogany-purple berries.
