A compact, rounded, deciduous shrub about 60cm tall and wide, with golden-yellow leaves to 3cm long, covering reddish stems, the leaves turning orange and purplish-bronze in autumn. Racemes of red-tinged, pale yellow flowers to 1cm long, produced along the branches in spring, followed by glossy red autumn fruit
