An evergreen azalea up to 1.2m high, with a dense, spreading habit and ovate, glossy green leaves that are tinted dark red in winter. Produces funnel-shaped red flowers, with a reddish-orange tint along the middle of the petals and faint red spots, in late spring. A Gable hybrid, produced in the USA

How to Grow

Cultivation

Grow in moist but well-drained, humus rich, acidic soil, in partial or dappled shade. Choose a site away from frost pockets and sheltered from strong winds. Mulch annually, ideally with leaf mould. See rhododendron cultivation for more detailed advice

Propagation

Propagate by semi-ripe cuttings in late summer, or by grafting in winter
