A climbing, evergreen perennial vine species, growing on the trunks of trees in the forests of C America and the Caribbean, producing glossy, heart shaped leaves, 30cm long when mature and eventually flowers consisting of pale green, sheath-like spathes, with a white spadix, or column, on mature plants. Popular and easily grown in cultivation as a long-lived houseplant
