Shrubs

A compact, hardy deciduous shrub to around 100cm in height, with small and narrow, dark green foliage, softly hairy on the undersides. Masses of star-shaped, rich reddish-pink flowers with lots of petals appear in April before the foliage. A great choice for smaller gardens, and ideal for pots and containers

How to Grow

Cultivation

Grow in moist but well-drained, humus rich, acidic soil, in sun or light shade. Choose a site away from frost pockets and sheltered from strong winds. Mulch annually, ideally with leaf mould. See rhododendron cultivation for more detailed advice

Propagate by seed or by semi-ripe cuttings in late summer
