A compact deciduous shrub to 1m high, with broadly oval, serrated glossy green leaves that turn dark red in autumn. Dome-shaped clusters of flowers are produced in mid summer, in colours from bright pink to violet blue depending on the pH of the soil. Often produces a second flush of flowers in late summer to early autumn
