A compact evergreen shrub to about 1m high, with glossy dark green leaves up to 18cm long. Clusters of up to 15 peach-coloured buds open in late spring to broadly funnel-shaped, pale yellow flowers tinted with soft pink, with wavy edges and sparse dark red speckles on the upper petals

How to Grow

Cultivation

Grow in moist but well-drained, humus rich, acidic soil, in partial or dappled shade. Choose a site away from frost pockets and sheltered from strong winds, and do not allow plants to dry out. Mulch annually, ideally with leaf mould. See rhododendron cultivation for more detailed advice

Propagate by semi-ripe cuttings in late summer
